Townsville 400 wrap up!
Sunny skies, V8’s and all the jerky – Townsville 400 was a ripper of a weekend!
The Townsville 400 is round 4 out of 7 in the Dunlop Super 2 Series and is known for being a place where drivers can hone in their mad skills and showcase their pure talent in front of championship teams.
This was McLeod Racing’s first Super2 Series and they should be extremely proud of their performance!
The Practice races saw Gerard getting comfy in the car – from years of racing V8 Utes, it’s a whole lot more junk in the trunk to get used to! Gerard managed to drop his best lap time by shaving off a second – a huge effort considering the whole field was separated by just 1.4 seconds!
In race one – Gerard’s first ever competitive race in the Super2 series, he finished in 20th position and improved his fastest lap again by .200th of a second.
Sunday qualifying saw the a few minor changes to the car and Gerard improving his fastest time by .300th of a second with a 1:17.4. Race two was just as exciting as the first with Gerard placed 12th before the rear tyres starting going and a lot of heat from front runners resulted in him having a career best finish of 17th. Well done Gerard and the whole team at McLeod’s Racing!
Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about the spectators… they fueled their wild side with mass amounts of freakin’ sweet meat!
